Sea of Mountains

“Sea of Mountains” is an audiovisual installation in which a digital video input is used as the score for a generative piano piece.

This piece does not demand an awareness of the calculus made within the computation. It’s not a point to reveal computation but instead to reveal the possibilities within a framed parcel of the ocean. By its oneness and yet with a rich microscopic variation, the part of the harbor kept within the frame creates a constant flow of diverse piano sequences through pre-established rules- the movement of each wave in the vertical axis determinates a pitch variation, while the size of each wave determinates the attack in each note

“Sea of Mountains” is a loop regarding infinity and a glimpse of natural structure.
