Ecological Reduction

"Ecological reduction" was recorded in Sheung Wan , Hong Kong.

A sound pilgrimage using a "sau tui che" (Cantonese) - a kart that is usually used by small workers and homeless people to carry their things . Two contact microphones record the karts sound, while a stereo mic records the surrounding sounds. The kart (velocity, weigh, direction, grinding...) is used as an instrument embed into the soundscape. The author assumes that the position of the person that is recording is part of the recording itself. Ecological Reduction confronts the reductive and ecological approaches to listening.
