João Vasco Paiva

 

João Vasco Paiva, ( b.1979) is a portuguese artist based in Hong Kong since 2006.

João graduated from Porto Art School - E.S.A.P. , and obtained a Master in Fine Arts in Creative Media, School of Creative Media, City University of Hong Kong. In 2006 he was awarded with a 2 year Scholarship from Fundação Oriente, since then he lives and works in Hong Kong.

His work has been presented in in several exhibitions in Athens, Beijing, Berlin, Brisbane, Budapest, Campinas, Hangzhou, Hong Kong, Lisbon, London, Lyon, New York, Moscow, Porto, Prague, Sao Paulo, Seoul, and Vienna.

Most notable collaborations include “Tactical Overload” with Zbigniew Karkowski in 2010 and “Decelarator” with Alexander Hacke ( Einstürzende Neubauten ) in 2011.

Since 2008 he has been an Instructor at the School of Creative Media, City University of Hong Kong, and currently he lectures at the Hong Kong Art School/ RMIT University.
